Stand With a 7-Year-Old Child Living With Epidermolysis Bullosa
Laura is only seven years old.
Like every child, she deserves to play, learn, laugh and grow without being defined by a medical condition. But for Laura, many ordinary moments—getting dressed, bathing, walking or playing—require extraordinary care.
Laura lives with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare condition that makes the skin extremely fragile and vulnerable to blistering and wounds from everyday friction.
Children living with EB are sometimes called “butterfly children” because their skin can be as delicate as a butterfly’s wings.
HELP LAURA TODAYEvery Day Requires Special Care
While many children begin their mornings thinking about school and playtime, Laura’s family must first think about protecting her fragile skin.
Living with EB can require gentle bathing, careful dressing changes, non-adhesive bandages, prescribed ointments, pain and itch management, infection prevention, nutritional assistance and regular specialist care.
Even ordinary activities may require careful planning.
These supplies and medical services are not luxuries. They are part of the consistent care Laura needs to remain safer, more comfortable and able to experience more of the childhood she deserves.
Laura is not asking for expensive toys. She simply deserves access to appropriate care, greater comfort and the opportunity to enjoy life as a child—not only as a patient.
Our Mission
No child should be denied appropriate medical care because the necessary supplies and specialist services are beyond the family’s financial reach.
Through its charitable medical-assistance program, LumaHope Foundation is working to help address Laura’s verified care needs while protecting her privacy, dignity and wellbeing.
Our goal is not to make promises that medicine cannot guarantee. Our goal is to help Laura access responsible care, essential supplies and the professional assistance recommended for her condition.
Why We Are Raising $100,000
LumaHope Foundation is seeking to raise $100,000 through its medical-assistance program to help cover verified charitable needs that may include:
- Specialized non-adhesive bandages and wound-care supplies.
- Prescribed creams, ointments and medications.
- Pain and itch management recommended by Laura’s clinicians.
- Infection-prevention measures and medical monitoring.
- Specialist consultations, examinations and eligible treatment.
- Nutritional assistance included in Laura’s documented care plan.
- Necessary transportation and temporary accommodation for medical visits.
- Documented program delivery and reporting expenses.
Assistance will be based on verified medical recommendations, eligible expenses and the availability of charitable funds.
A detailed campaign budget and progress updates will be provided to help contributors understand how the funds are being used.
HELP MAKE CARE POSSIBLEWhere Your Contribution Goes
Every contribution is made to LumaHope Foundation’s charitable medical-assistance program.
LumaHope Foundation retains full discretion and control over all contributed funds and applies them to verified charitable needs consistent with its mission. Laura’s case is presented as a current priority within that program.
Campaign updates will explain what assistance has been provided and how funds have been allocated. Receipts, provider records and other appropriate documentation will be maintained.
If contributions exceed Laura’s verified eligible needs, remaining funds may be used to assist other eligible children and families facing serious medical hardship.
Transparency is not an extra promise. It is part of our responsibility.
